SEAN MEAGHER, M/Y LATITUDE
Captain Sean P. Meagher holds a Masters Unlimited license any Ocean Sail and Power.
From the ice fields of the Northwest Passage and North pole to the volcanoes and jungles of the South Pacific and South East Asia. Captain Meagher has piloted some of the worlds finest craft in the most uncharted areas on the planet.
PAW CORTES, MAGELLAN
Master marine and electrical engineer followed by extensive offshore marine management over several years. Experience split between fibre optic cable installation and successful entrepreneurship and management as founder of CT Offshore, a leading European offshore cable installation company at the early days of the offshore renewable energy industry (mainly offshore wind farm construction projects).
Having sold the company and being released from non-competition clauses, new offshore company NCT Offshore was founded. The more than 20 years of offshore industry experience and knowledge was transformed into new expertise in deep sea exploration which in turn led to the development of an extensive project portfolio in collaboration with Mr Richard Parkinson and Magellan.
MIKE GREGORY, FLEET CAPTAIN OF DRAGONFLY, BUTTERFLY & FIREFLY
Mike Gregory hails from the Romney Marsh in Kent, UK. A Master Mariner with extensive global cruising experience, spending the past 7 years cruising the remote Pacific regions.
The Fly’ Fleet has a unique program focusing on Altruism, engaging both the crew and the assets to make a positive impact on the places that they visit.
CHARLIE BIRKETT, Y.CO
Charlie has followed his passion for sailing from an early age and after a successful career at sea, operating some of the largest and most complex operations, he partnered with longtime friend and colleague Gary Wright to establish Y.CO.
Y.CO is now recognized as one of the leading yacht companies in the industry, supporting over 100 large yacht operations worldwide.
ADAM SEBBA, COOKSON ADVENTURES
Adam Sebba is the CEO of Cookson Adventures – an ultra-luxury travel company that creates bespoke experiences and adventures.
Adam joined the Army the day before 9-11 and spent the first seven years of his career as an army officer planning and delivering complex military operations. After leaving the Army, Adam completed an MBA at Imperial College, graduating with merit and diploma. He started his business career as a management consultant helping businesses improve their operational performance, and worked across multiple industries solving different types of challenges. For the past five years, Adam has sat on the investment screening committee of the HBS Angels, reviewing over 200 early stage businesses every year. He now helps run Cookson Adventures along with an experienced team
In his spare time Adam enjoys parenting his 3 children, climbing, camping, and is passionate about the outdoors. Occasionally he trains for (and completes) an ultra-marathon.
XAVIER VAUTRIN, AIRBUS CORPORATE HELICOPTERS
With a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Xavier started his career in China working for Bosch as Lan Manufacturing Engineer.
As a classic and sports car passionate, he then moved to the UK where he worked for Aston Martin Lagonda as Project Engineer. Xavier is now Marketing Manager for Airbus Corporate Helicopters, the Airbus entity dedicated to its private and corporate customers.
ROB MCCALLUM, EYOS EXPEDITIONS
Rob McCallum has spent decades mounting complex logistical operations in remote regions around the world. He is the co-founder of EYOS Expeditions, widely regarded as the world's foremost provider of marine based private expedition services. Together, he and his team have managed over 1,200 safe and successful expeditions.
Rob helped lead the largest vessel ever to transit the Northwest Passage and as an acknowledged expert in deep-water submersibles, he organised multiple expeditions to the RMS Titanic and battleship Bismarck. He also managed the construction of the research yacht Alucia. Recently, Rob has been responsible for the overall coordination and onboard leadership of the Five Deeps Expedition, which this month completed the deepest dive in history when it reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
JIM ALADIN, M/Y CLOUDBREAK
Swedish-born Captain Jim left home at age 21 after an IT career, and spent 5 years globe-trotting around the world as a Master Dive Instructor, mainly in Asia and the Red Sea. This led to a successful yachting career, first as an engineer, then moving deck-side, gaining his Master 3000GT license in 2000. Previous yachts include M/Y STELLA MARIS and M/Y PLAN B.
His highlights include diving with whale sharks in Thailand, heli-snowboarding in Canada and yacht cruising Antarctica, Alaska, Cocos Keeling Island, Borneo, Madagascar, Belize, Cuba, Galapagos / Cocos Island and Tristran Da Cuhna.
STEWART CAMPBELL, BOAT INTERNATIONAL
Stewart Campbell is the editor of Boat International, the world’s leading superyacht magazine. Previously, he spent almost a decade at magazine company IPC Media. He spent his formative years in a succession of motor yachts on the South Coast of the UK and Thames, and when not on the water lives near Guildford in Surrey.
JIMMY CARROLL, PELORUS
Jimmy prior to co-founding PELORUS, worked as Head of Marketing and Communications for Winch Design. During his time there he saw an increase in the desire for explorer yachts and clients who wished to go further and this is when he joined forces with Geordie to form Pelorus.
Jimmy served in a British Army reconnaissance regiment, with tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. He served for eight years and on leaving was appointed Expedition Manager for Xtreme Everest 2, the largest ever medical-research expedition conducted on Mount Everest. He then moved to be the Global Tour Manager for Manchester United. Jimmy is a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, a mountain leader and advanced diver with a passion for adventure.
DIRK-JAN DE JONG, AMPHICRUISER
Dirk Jan de Jong, engineer and CEO of the company that produces Amphicruiser, has always been fascinated by water and technology. Together with his brother he created the ultimate amphibious SUV, based on Toyota Land Cruiser. The high quality and capacity of this strong vehicle made in Holland, makes it the most reliable amphibian in which you will enjoy unparalleled freedom to travel and explore.
CRAIG BARNETT, TRITON SUBMARINES
Two decades as an Editor-in-Chief of yachting publications provided Craig with a wide-aspect view of the yachting sector. It took just one submersible dive in The Bahamas to convince him his future passion and profession lay with Triton Submarines as Sales & Marketing Manager.
JONATHAN TURNER, MAST CONSULTANCY
Jonathan spent 17 years flying helicopters in the Royal Navy and is now the director of MAST Consultancy, a company specialising in delivery of maritime aviation consultancy and training to the superyacht industry. With a wealth of experience operating helicopters around the world, MAST helps superyacht clients to operate helicopters, safely and efficiently.
MARNIX J. HOEKSTRA, VRIPACK
As a graduated Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, Marnix J. Hoekstra is one of the Creative Directors of Vripack; a Dutch yacht design studio, made strong through its extensive naval architecture and engineering experience. Since 1961, Vripack is involved in the entire building process of innovative yachts that are developed for private customers and shipyards worldwide.
BART M. BOUWHUIS, VRIPACK
As a graduated Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, Bart M. Bouwhuis is one of the Creative Directors of yacht design studio Vripack. He’s convinced that a good design is more than meets the eye. It’s a question of how well the design works and feels at sea. Bart believes in a holistic approach to design with a close integration of Naval Architecture and Engineering.
RICHARD PARKINSON, MAGELLAN
Richard originally studied Ocean Science and Sedimentology before beginning his career as a hydrographic surveyor. In 2003 he started his own offshore site investigations company, specialising in Arctic and harsh, remote environments, and deployed his fleet of vessels globally for all of the oil and gas and telecommunications majors. Richard has held board positions with a variety of high-tech subsea companies and now runs Magellan– an ultra-deep, subsea recovery and intervention specialist, as well as SM2Subsea Mineral Exploration, which owns seabed concessions around the Pacific Ring of Fire.
TROY LAUNAY, MAGELLAN
With a Degree in Underwater Technology, Troy became a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico over 30 years ago. He is now a world leader in Deep Ocean Search and Salvage with expeditions to over 28 shipwrecks. Troy has located and salvaged numerous military and commercial aircraft for a wide variety of clients in depths up to 7000 meters. His team recently received the citation of merit award from the Explorers Club for salvaging multiple Saturn V rocket engines and his current projects include offshore search, salvage, science, conservation, and education.
MARK VERMEULEN, DAMEN / AMELS
Mark Vermeulen is Director of Products & Developments for AMELS, DAMEN Yacht Support and DAMEN SeaExplorer as well as a member of the management team, leading the Damen Shipyards Group's luxury yachting division. He proudly heads the talented and dedicated in-house department of naval architects and luxury yacht design specialists, with the highest quality and most exciting yachts, expedition vessels and superyacht support ships coming from their drawing boards. Mark works with clients and their teams around the world with a keen focus on meeting their exact requirements for unique luxury yachting experiences.
MICHAEL BREMAN, LÜRSSEN
Michael Breman can be described as multi-cultural, speaking five languages fluently. Throughout his childhood, sailing boats of various sizes always belonged to his life. During his Atlantic College time in South West he helped build what was at that time the world's largest rigid hull inflatable. Later on Michael made his first practical yachting experience - other than a user - as (the only) deckhand on a beautiful 27m Esterel.
Coincidences took him to Saudi Arabia to work for a capital goods trading company based in Jeddah as marketing manager. After seven years fate brought him in 1991 to Italy where he joined Baglietto.
In 1995 Michael met Peter Lürssen and joined his company on the German Riviera where he has been ever since and where he successfully handles the sales of the largest yachts in the world.
JARKKO JÄMSEN, JAMSEN
Jarkko Jämsen holds Degrees in Naval Architecture, Industrial Design and Wooden Boat Building. Co-Founder and Head of Boat & Yacht Design in one of Scandinavia's largest multi-disciplinary design agencies, he has extensive experience in the marine industry, from Wärtsilä engines, serial-produced boats to cruise ships and luxury yachts, and everything in between. He runs his own Yacht Design Studio, Jamsen, based in Monaco.
With an extremely curious and distinctively innovative mindset, Jarkko loves to take on challenging technical projects that combine aesthetics with aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and engineering.
VESA MARTTINEN, WÄRTSILÄ
Vesa Marttinen is an energetic and visionary leader, with passion in all that is maritime.
His coaching secures operations and lead teams to develop new innovations and business models. Vesa has a Master's Degree in Naval Architecture and Industrial Management. During the past 20 years he has worked with different teams and cultures around the northern hemisphere.
Currently Vesa leads the cruise, ferry and yacht business at Wärtsilä.
JASPER SMITH, ARKSEN
A successful UK based entrepreneur, founder and chairman of a number of companies in the games, technology, finance and engineering sectors including; PlayStack, PlayJam, Vala Capital and Arksen. Jasper has spent a lifetime adventuring at sea and on land.
He sailed from Sydney to Alaska, via Kamchatka in Russia, climbed all the major volcanoes along the way and spent a year climbing in South America.
HENRY COOKSON, COOKSON ADVENTURES
Since achieving a world record for kite-skiing to the Antarctic Pole of Inaccessibility, Henry has continued to set new benchmarks. Founded in 2009, his company Cookson Adventures crafts adventures worthy of class-leading yachts in some of the least chartered waters on the planet, including Antarctica, Cocos island, Micronesia and Svalbard.
Designed for both owners and charterers, his world-first yacht expeditions have helped scientists identify a new type of killer whale, organised the first private submersible dive in Antarctica and launched multi-yacht conservation projects in the Galapagos Islands. Today, Henry still personally hosts and curates many of the adventures himself.
CHRISTOPH SCHAEFER, M/Y GENE MACHINE
Starting his career in the merchant navy in 1982, Christoph quickly realised that his desire to be in and on the ocean would never be satisfied on cargo ships. After being introduced to sailing and diving in 1985 he moved to Thailand where he started his career on yachts and as diving instructor, always in pursuit of the ultimate diving and cruising experience. The majority of his career as captain spanning over 30 years he spent in the realm of the exotic, operating sail and motor yachts in Southeast Asia, Mexico, Central and South America and eventually venturing into polar waters.
